“But it’s your birthday,” Eddie said very matter-of-factly.
“Yeah,” Steve sighs. His eyebrows furrow. “How did you know that?”
“You’re not doing anything for your birthday?” Eddie asked tentatively, completely ignoring Steve’s question.
Steve finally looked at Eddie and quickly averted his eyes after clocking the concern on his face. He shook his head.
“That is unacceptable,” Eddie looked at Steve like that was the obvious conclusion. Maybe it was to Eddie. His mouth fell open as he smirked, then he stood up and held out his hand. “Come on, Harrington, I’m gonna make you a cake.”

Summary
Eddie should never have agreed to this. He should’ve told Steve no. He should’ve told him to ask Robin, to ask Chrissy, because him saying yes to this is a horrible, stupid, disastrous idea.
But Steve had asked him. So of course he’d said yes.
Because that is the thing about being best friends with Steve Harrington: he never asks anyone for anything. He’s hardly able to take that which is given to him, Eddie practically having to pull teeth to allow him to fix his brakes, and so when Steve asked him to be part of this insanity?
Eddie was a goner.
OR:
Steve needs one vacation with his parents where his mother isn't trying to set him up with someone, and what better way to get her off his back than pretending to date his best friend?
Too bad his best friend has been in love with him for the better part of their seven-year friendship, and neither of them are going to be able to get through this week without their feelings becoming known.

Summary
The motel is not cheap, but it's the only place close enough for them to carry their stuff as the van is taken by the tow truck. It's also too fancy and posh, and it only has one room available, but fine, fine, that's the only option. Eddie is mostly okay with it until he gets in and is greeted by red walls, a red round bed, red carpets and a fucking heart shaped (and you guessed right, also red!) tub. So. This is not a random motel, this is a love hotel. And he's trapped in it with Steve Harrington of all people until the next morning.
This is a very expensive, very tacky and very honeymoon shaped nightmare.
