“Ilya Rozanov,” Shane repeats slowly, letting himself taste the words. He grins. “Wow. You’re, like, a really good player. How come you’re in Canada for summer camp? Is that weird to ask? Sorry if that’s weird. I just meant-”
Shane is cut off by a hand on his mouth. He flushes.
“Too fast,” Ilya says. “My English… not good.”
“Sorry,” Shane mumbles into Ilya’s hand. Ilya grins and shakes his head, curls dancing, as he pulls his hand away.
“Is okay. Slow words. Okay?”
This year marks thirteen year Shane Hollander's third summer at Coach Marakov's elite hockey training camp. In attendance for the first time: Ilya Rozanov, visiting from Russia. Shane isn't the most sociable, and Ilya's English isn't the greatest, yet the unlikely duo soon become the best of friends.
It's just one summer, but it makes a world of difference.

Summary
When Shane turns back towards the door, he is met with icy blue eyes watching him from the doorway. Transfixed, Shane stares back at the man. His striking features are perfectly aligned, resembling those of a Greek statue, framed by carefully styled blond curls. When Shane chances a look further down, he learns that his stature is just as imposing — though his baggy shirt hides his torso, the man's arms bulge with muscle, his jeans hug his large thighs like they were tailored directly onto his skin, and his hands are broad and masculine where they grip a box of pralines a little too tightly. Shane, despite his natural instincts, dares to meet the man's gaze again, and finds those blue eyes fixated on him with an intensity he has never been subject to before. They flit over his face, traveling down the length of his body before quickly jumping back up. Finally, he speaks, his words a soft purr.
"Are you a siren?"
Or; Thirty-four year old Shane Hollander meets twenty year old Ilya Rozanov. He also meets all eight of Ilya's tentacles.

Shane Hollander is a lycan who is exasperated by his best friend getting constantly knocked up. Ilya Rozanov is a vampire who has no idea that lycans have secondary sexes.
