Summary
Five or so years after the DSM-6 was published, Poppy Grace is struggling with her restrictive diagnosis of antisocial obsessive maritiphagic personality disorder, playfully nicknamed by herself as yandere personality disorder. When her HRT provider retires and her family doctor refuses to continue to prescribe her the medication, she searches the internet for alternatives. She ends up ordering a special kind of DIY HRT from a cheap local subscription service as she moves out to a student home paid for by her parents after a delayed start to her university career. At the same time, Patricia Fox is starting her second year of her landscaping job over the summer, in the middle of her second gap year before she finally works up the courage to reapply for her PHD program. The pain from the sudden and tragic death of her little sister is still vivid, and she hasn't found her social footing since, her best friends being her distant coworkers. This and her recent diagnosis with a new disorder regarding compulsive sexual behaviour has her feeling apathetic. One day in the summer, nearing the final days of June, Patricia and Poppy meet.
