Summary
A desk job, and permanent limp, was not the future Chris envisioned for himself. The only positive to the situation was the fact that it at least made it possible to pursue a more serious relationship with Leon.
However, it only took a few months of living together, to realize there was something very wrong with Leon's work. Sometimes it felt like the agent barely remembered he was allowed to be a person.
Chris was determined to get to the bottom of it, at least in between re-introducing Leon to the joys of downtime, hobbies, and plans for the future.

Summary
Leon had already decided a long time ago that he wasn’t the kind of person someone could fall in love with.
His life was too different, too dangerous to be able to afford falling in love. He was destined to watch it happen while never experiencing it himself, like looking through a window and never seeing his own reflection.

"That's the thing, Redfield. You don't know it's there until you're already falling."
Chris Redfield's life became a war in 1998, a war that hasn't ended in more than two decades. It's a mission that never ends, a duty that must always be fulfilled. In that war, so much has been lost, but it isn't until Ethan Winters is falling apart in front of him that he realizes he can't lose the man he loves, not again.
Ethan Winters's life changed forever when his wife disappeared in 2014, but his fateful encounter with her three years later in Louisiana destroyed any normalcy he had left. All he wanted to do was keep his family safe. He would pay any price, even if it cost him his life, but it isn't until Chris Redfield draws him into his arms that he wishes he could stay, forever.
