"Maybe," Aether said with a small, sad smile. "But I saw you on that cliffside, too. Looking out at Liyue. You stay for them, don't you? To make sure what they fought for doesn't disappear?"
When Aether calls for help in battle, Xiao answers without hesitation--and takes a devastating blow in his stead. Trapped in a sealed cave with dwindling supplies and serious injuries, two people (who are very bad at admitting things) find that they have nowhere left to hide.

Summary
What if Scaramouche never managed to erase himself from Irmunsil? And what if, in trying to save Scaramouche, Aether accidently got teleported into the past? The part of the past when Kabukimono was alive and well. What if Aether had a chance to change everything for the better? Would he even take than chance, knowing that the risks may include losing Scaramouche as he knew him entirely?
(or Aether grapples with meeting a nice version of Scaramouche while Scara grapples with not yet coming to terms with his failed suicide attempt)

Summary
Scaramouche finds a boy named Teucer wandering the halls of Zapolyarny Palace. He doesn’t want any humans near him—including children, but when Il Dottore lurks in the shadows, he decides to watch over the child. He knows more than anyone else the dangers of that man.
“Poor puppet,” Dottore shakes his head, amused by the sight before him, “to be cursed with the blessing of immortality.”
Scaramouche remains still, head lying in a pool of his own blood.
Dottore wonders if his inferior is actually unconscious as he bends down, running a hand through the red liquid. It glistens on his fingertips, seemingly alive and thrumming with energy. He plays with it using his thumb, the liquid tact against his glove.
“You’ve done a lot of damage,” he says, idly. “It will take me quite a while to repair you back to prime health. How do you plan to repay me?”
