The simple fact was that after two years of loyal service under Lord Stark and nine out of the Nine Kingdoms explored, Duncan had simply placed a hand on the top of his head to where it finally reached his chest rather than his navel, and said that Egg had learned enough under his lordship alone.
Winterfell to Summerhall. The North to the South. A star falling downwards from the sky to bring luck to the lands below in a hundred days' time. Their final adventure seemed fitting, and excruciatingly perfect.
After seven years and over a dozen adventures between Dorne and the Wall, Ser Duncan the Tall finally escorts his squire Egg back to Summerhall in time for his sixteenth nameday. Egg, meanwhile, begins to dream of his past.
