Summary
Everything old is new again and X-Files is coming back, so thought I'd dust off an old favorite. Think of it as fanfic Glory Days.
Back in the mid-nineties, Amperage started the ball rolling and spear-headed this wee little fix, and she let me come along for the ride and co-write.
For those of you who are new to this, I hope you enjoy it. Remember, it's an old fave (twenty years!). For those who read it before, hope you enjoy visiting an old friend of a fic.
I'm going to repost it in pretty much the original format, with all the original notes, so forgive formatting idiosyncracies. This one is from way back in the days of archie and veronica, before we had browsers (yes, kids, there was a time before browsers, when we did everything in ftp!).

One year after the Apocalypse-That-Wasn't, Crowley and Aziraphale have settled into a new routine: keeping an eye on supernatural happenings in the world and preventing Heaven or Hell from interfering too much with humanity. It's not a bad job - despite occasional rains of fish - and if there are some unspoken things they really ought to talk about, well, they have all the time in the world now to get around to that, right?
At least, until the Archangel Raphael turns up on their doorstep looking for help... and it starts to become clear that the world is changing fast, and so are they.
Or: Crowley and Aziraphale start a detective agency. Shenanigans ensue. Slowburn continues. Apparently, there is plot. I have some thoughts about Heaven, Hell, and humanism. There will be stupid jokes and a healthy sprinkling of angst.

There’s no time to grab anything to defend himself with, because the first hinge on the door snaps open with a bang, and the second follows on the next hit. The door rips backwards, thrown to the floor by the same man Q had been in the ski lift with, who smiles menacingly and draws a knife from his jacket. The Quartermaster wonders how long it will take for James to realise he’s missing.
Before the henchman even gets in his first hit, Q knows it’ll be too late.

Summary
The problem wasn't Christmas itself, as annoying as it made things when you just had to nip down to the shop on a routine errand. The problem was that the Winter Solstice and all of the holidays that had accreted to it over the centuries made this time of year about as safe as the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone.
At a very dangerous time of year, Peter is re-adjusting to being back at work, Nightingale has something on his mind, and the Folly's greatest defense comes from an unlikely (and delicious) source.
