A seemingly important insignia is drawn on its surface as a sign on the bottom right. He skims over the words, eyes bringing him straight to the reward at the end of those ostentatious wordings.

He reads the term, sees the requirements, and smiles.

He finally leaned forward, his eyes narrowing. He was still emotionally illiterate, even when it came to what he, himself, was feeling. There was an almost naive sort of foreignness to it all— but the ache was not a naive one. It was fiery, and desperate, and perhaps a bit hostile. But Zhongli was nothing, if not practiced in self restraint. His momentary lapse of judgment in the hallway was enough for him.

Summary
It has been four months since the contract to end all contracts was completed. However, upon successful completion of his mission, Ajax was called back to Snezhnaya. Zhongli's heart aches in his lover's absence and he feels as though each day is a haze of loneliness. It's only worsened by the fact that Ajax was called back so quickly that they didn't even get to say goodbye. He has not seen him since that night at Northland Bank. Worse, his precious lover has been kept so busy with his Harbinger duties that he has not had time to reply to a single of Zhongli's letters.
However, it will all be better soon. Six months ago they made plans to spend the holidays and Zhongli's birthday together at Ajax's family home. He is soon to board the train with an engagement ring in his pocket and a question held within his heart just waiting for his lover's presence before the words are spoken.
