He looks up when the door opens, dark eyes wide and wild, but Henry would know them anywhere. Would know every curve and angle of this face, even with the heavy stubble obscuring the dimple in his chin, even with the dark circles beneath his eyes, even with the greyish cast to his usually-warm brown skin that is, frankly, terrifying.
“Alex?”
“Took you fucking long enough,” he groans, then stumbles past Henry into the flat, leaving a trail of bloody footsteps behind in his wake.

“So what you’re telling me is that you’ve begun some kind of weird aggressive mating ritual with an English professor,” Nora says around obscenely large bites of her burrito.
“How the fuck—” Alex splutters, because he honestly has no clue how she came to that conclusion. “We’re not flirting. We’re at war.”
(It starts with a polite request to erase the whiteboards at the end of class. It gets a lot more ridiculous before it ends.)

Alex snorts and shakes his head. “Bullshit. Ok, I can’t know for sure since this is the first time we’re actually witnessing Tyrannosaurus behaviour, but I can just tell, you know?” he says with an emphatic gesture. “What they’re doing has all the hallmarks of mating behaviour. I’m certain that if we gave them an egg, they’d raise it together.”
“So, what you’re telling me is that my family has unwittingly created a lesbian dinosaur utopia.”
“I mean… yeah, you could certainly put it that way,” Alex allows.
Henry laughs, practically giddy. “I think that may be the best thing I’ve heard all year.”
