Summary
Cliff Marlow was sure of 3 things. The first, was that he had been drafted to the best team in the entire NHL. The Bears were a family, kept in line by a good coaching staff, and a shark of a captain, who kept the locker room in check. No hazing of younger rookies anymore, no tolerance for bigoted bullshit either. The second, was that he was probably hopelessly in love with his regular barista who almost certainly had no idea who he was outside of ‘customer she sometimes casually flirted with’. She was cool as fuck and absolutely not a sports fan, which was Cliff’s usual move, and Cliff was terrified of her. A story for another day.
The third was that… something was wrong with his captain.

OR: Ilya is torturing the Boston Bears/Raiders because of his breakup with Shane. His good friends take him to a bar to get him to move on (partially for their own sake) but it leads to Ilya revealing a little too much of his feelings.
