He half expects the buildings rising around him to be futuristic sci-fi buildings and floating maybe, or at least bright purple. The music coming through his earbuds – comfort music playlists he compiled as a teenager and never bothered to outgrow – is enough to calm him momentarily; he is still, all ten fingernails left alone and unchewed, but it will only last so long.
