Summary: When they were kids, Zuko and Katara didn’t get along that well; now Katara’s back from college, and both of them have a vested and petty interest in showing off the person they’ve managed to become. So when Sokka throws a wild party one night, Zuko and Katara decide to get reacquainted—and this time they get along swimmingly.

Katara’s rehearsed this, and she never flubs a performance; so she stands her ground, remaining stock still even as adrenaline courses through her veins and throbs deep in her core. The weed is making everything seem vivid and fascinating, so she can’t stop herself from taking in all the details: the perfectly tailored fit of his jeans, the strategically faded Airborne Toxic Event t-shirt that’s been French tucked oh-so-casually into his waistband, the whimsically striped socks, and the fashionably shaggy hair that falls into his eyes just so, softening the sharper angles of his face. Their gazes meet, and she swallows; his eyes are still as intense as ever, but somehow even more unnerving.
A burst of furious envy erupts inside her. How dare you get this hot, Katara thinks. How utterly fucking dare you.

Summary
Nearly a year into her role as the Southern Water Tribe’s ambassador, Katara has accomplished what her counterpart from the North could not: securing reparations from the Fire Nation court. But when sabotage, scandal, and colonial unrest threaten the fragile peace of a post-war world, she finds herself pulled deeper and deeper into the viper’s nest of Fire Nation politics…and closer to its ruler. As rumors swirl and tempers flare between the Ambassador and the Fire Lord, Katara finds a helping hand, and unexpected solace, in the brother of one of her students. In a nation built on blood and lies, she must decide: how far is she willing to go to protect those who cannot protect themselves…and what will it cost her?
This is the first act of a five-act story. Act I is complete and comes to, what I consider to be, a narratively satisfying conclusion. I will be posting the remaining chapters of Act I every day during Zutara Month 2025.

Summary
To commemorate the end of the Hundred Years' War and to ensure nothing like that ever happens again, the Four Nations agree to hold a Summit every year. Two weeks of political talks, cultural immersion and utter harmony. As Fire Lord, Zuko is in charge of hosting the first, set in the Fire Nation capital. As war-heroes, Katara, Sokka, Toph, Suki and of course Aang are among the guests.
However, as Katara finds herself yearning for a life beyond that of the Avatar's faithful companion, it appears that politics will not be the only turbulent waters they have to navigate.
