When we think about 'what-ifs', what we wonder is that what could've happened if we had done something, anything rather than what we currently did. Because we are never satisfied by the outcome, no matter how much of the better outcome we get we never feel fulfilled.
And hence these multiple 'what-ifs', creates multiple scenarios, possibilities, challenges and....endings....

Summary
Rody couldn't. No matter how much he tried, he couldn't get his ex boss- well, for now 'dead' boss out of his memory. Whatever he' had went through he couldn't move on whether it's from his beloved Manon or the bistro where that .....monster was.
Well was, right, it's a relief that he's dead now. Matter of fact Rody does regret it, not killing his boss rather being the reason for his beloved to be killed.
The guilt was so much to the point he became a different....totally different person.
