He still wanted to shake Lance senseless. Still wanted to force every stupid self-destructive thought out of his head permanently. But not like this. Not while Lance was bleeding through half-finished bandages and barely standing upright.
“Come here,” he said more gently.
Lance looked at him warily for half a second before the exhaustion apparently won out. Keith guided him carefully down onto the bathroom floor instead, maneuvering him until Lance sat between his knees with his back angled toward Keith’s chest.
The position felt immediately, dangerously intimate. Lance’s bare back rested inches from his chest now, warm and solid and distractingly close. Keith could smell the sharp disinfectant still lingering in the air beneath the cleaner scent of soap and the faint metallic trace of blood.Or
After a mission gone wrong in all the right ways, Keith storms into Lance’s room ready to start a fight over another reckless stunt, only to discover Lance is far more injured than anyone realized. What starts as anger turns into patching wounds on a bathroom floor, old insecurities dragged into the open, and the realization that they’ve both been holding back too much for too long.

Keith’s eyes lock on the communicator in Lance’s hand.
“You.”
“Me,” Lance returns easily, crossing one slender leg over the other where he’s sitting on their bed. Keith’s eyes flicker helplessly to the movement but quickly snap back up. He’s trying to get stuff done, dammit. He can’t afford distractions. He marches across the room, something stern on his face, only growing more frustrated as Lance gracefully rises from the bed and flits away from him. It draws a growl from his mouth.
“I don’t have time for this, Lance. I’m working.”
“You were working,” Lance responds. He tosses Keith’s communicator on their dresser. “Now you’re gonna relax a little, with some help from moi. ”
In which BOM commander Keith is falling into workaholic tendencies and his husband takes drastic measures to help him relax.

Keith’s face has dropped to a deadpan stare. He grinds his teeth, glancing at the file and then back up at Lance, who smiles sunnily as if he’s not the absolute king of being as irritating as possible as often as possible.
“You know what your problem is?” Keith mutters, angrily swiping his hand through his battle plans to delete them and pulling up new blueprints.
Lance grins smugly, placing his hands under his chin and his elbows on the table. He blinks slowly, then opens half-lidded eyes towards Keith.
“Enlighten me,” he says.
“You,” Keith continues, as if Lance had not spoken, “are really cute, so no one ever told you to shut your fucking pie-hole.”

There’s a boy sitting there on a bench across the paved path, on the other side of it. He’s sipping his coffee and eating a breakfast sandwich at leisure. “Well it’s good your face isn’t fucked up.” He takes another bite. “But you lost a point for it.”
