But the military wasn't quite right either, even when he thrived both in combat and strategy. He did, however, meet a dear friend in his time at the barracks.

Now settled into his assignment with a nomadic caravan, Aymeric decides to write a letter to Estinien, hoping to reconnect with the one person that ever made him feel like an individual rather than a pawn in someone else's game.

And Fandaniel doesn’t think he particularly wants to be; he has borne witness to the inner workings of other beasts, felt their desires roil up within their machinery until they turned to steam. Zenos is no different from any other animal under his study. This one just walks on two legs.
