When Alice is out of town, Armand stays over to help Daniel with Kate and baby Lenora. They have moments of domestic bliss, but Daniel is desperately addicted to Armand's blood.
Decades later in Dubai, Daniel finds something unsettlingly familiar about Rashid.
“You’re the orange crayon.” Kate dumps out a box containing crayons, colored pencils, and fruit scented erasers onto the table. She pulls out a child’s size chair at her play table and looks at Armand with expectant eyes.
“You have to sit down.”
“Do I?” Armand stares down at the precocious seven year old. Kate nods.Armand looks at Kate’s innocent expression. She looks so much like Daniel in her face and mannerisms. And the same adorable head of curls.
