    Relationships can be hard, but uncommitted partners with benefits can strangely be harder. Or maybe Sam and Bucky are not as casual as they think and they’re learning to trust each other as their casual affair evolves into something much more.

     

    This thing between them is casual. It’s funny actually, they started fooling around as a joke in response to those news reports saying they have chemistry. They laughed about it, a lot, and it got to the point where Sam said, “Imagine? Imagine if we had chemistry — sexual chemistry?” and Bucky’s reply to that was, “Yeah, god imagine I kissed you and you liked it?” And well, then he did and Sam did like it and that’s how this whole funny thing happened.

    Sam and Bucky make a bet to see who can last longer without sex.

     
    Bucky watches Sam eat his breakfast, studies the way his lips latch onto the rim of the mug with each sip of coffee. He waits for Sam to walk his plate and cup to the sink and it's always before he makes it out of the kitchen that Bucky presses his boyfriend against the wall.

    His hands fall right to Sam's ass. He burrows his face into Sam's neck and inhales an enormous breath like he's finally getting some air back in his lungs.

    "You giving in?” Sam teases instantly.

    "Never," Bucky breathes.

    The Thunderbolts aren't united yet, but with enough time and many missions, they will find themselves having to rely on one another—and perhaps saving more than just civilian lives.

    Sam and Bucky are on the right path to rediscovering themselves. It's a dangerous road, long and filled with obstacles and pain, but the wait will be worth it.
