Summary
Just then, the rookie ran back in, skidding to a stop. She was holding something and held it out for Olimar to look at.It was a well-loved green bear, with little antenna, in a obviously homemade ‘rescue corps’ hoodie. She made it wave a paw at him.
“Is this your bear?” he asked, still embarrassed from being seen with his plush.
The rookie smiled and nodded. She made the bear touch it’s chest, and surprisingly, used her voice.
“Beep!”

They were the rescue corps. They could save anyone, anywhere in the universe, regardless of the danger. Just as they've done for 98 generations prior.
Shepherd could lead her team through this newly discovered planet, existing at the edge of the universe and which follows its own rules. She could lead them through its unique dangers and horrors. She could lead them back together and save every stranded castaway on the planet.
She could. She had no other choice. They all just wanted to come home.
