Summary
“I can’t keep doing this, Eddie. Your sweatpants are in my dresser. You buy the right spices at the farmer’s market for my recipes. You wear the monstrosities I knit for you. You hold my kid’s hand when we’re crossing the street.”
Eddie’s lips are at the hinge of his jaw, like he’s testing the waters. It makes Buck brave enough to bring a numb hand up to one of the belt loops on Eddie’s darkwash jeans, thumbing there restlessly—sliding the tips of his fingers under the hem of his obsidian button-down. The skin-to-skin contact is all at once relieving.
“I think we’ve both known what we are for a while now,” Buck goads, hushed; tilting to arch his neck back against the wall, granting Eddie unlimited access, praying he takes the explicit invitation. “You’re my best friend. But this isn’t sustainable.”
or: Buck's sick of pretending.

Summary
In a moment of weakness, distracted by the look in Eddie’s eyes Buck stuttered “I love you.”
He wasn’t proud of it. Buck promised he wouldn’t make things harder for Eddie. He knew that there was nothing he could say that would make him stay, he wouldn’t want that either anyway. As much as Buck wants to be selfish and ask Eddie to stay with him, he never could, he’d never do that to Eddie and Chris.
But he does love Eddie. Buck loves Eddie so much that he’d let him leave because that’s what you're supposed to do when you love somebody. You let them leave when they have to, even if it kills you.
Eddie’s lips curled at Buck’s words. If Buck wasn’t mistaken, he could see Eddie’s eyes well up as well. “You too,” he whispered.
He patted his hand on Buck’s shoulder for the last time before removing it, forever. Buck felt a sense of loneliness creeping over him at the loss of Eddie’s final touch. Eddie looked up at him one last time, matching tears in both of their eyes before stepping back—stepping away forevermore.
OR: When Eddie moves to El Paso, he stops answering Buck’s calls. It causes Buck to lose his mind just a bit.

Summary
"Eddie?" Buck answered, a faint, subconscious smile coming at Eddies answering giggle.
"Buck!" Eddie cheered, in his usual way of nearly booming Buck's name. Buck didnt know why he always seemed to do that, but Buck honestly didnt care. He liked it.
"You having fun Eds?" Buck said amused and Eddie hummed, a clatter sounding and quiet, muffled cursing before it suddenly came clear again.
"Did you drop me Eddie?" Buck asked with a laugh and Eddie gasped. "No! I'd never drop you, hold you forever," Eddie sighed and Buck flushed, reminding himself Eddie was drunk and didnt mean it like that.
