Kai stared at the ground, absently kicking at the dirt with his sneaker. "I can't stop thinking about my dad," he admitted quietly, breaking the silence between him and Cole. "It's been weeks, and we still don't have any news. What if something really bad happened?"
Cole glanced at his friend, concern etched across his face, he wasn't the best with comforting, but he tried his hardest. "I know, man. It's tough not knowing. But you can't let it eat you up inside. Your mom said the police are doing everything they can to find him."
Kai sighed heavily, rubbing his hair, his leg shook a bit. "I just feel so helpless. I want to do something, anything, to help. But all I can do is wait and hope they find him safe. It's driving me crazy."
Cole placed a reassuring hand on Kai's shoulder. "You're not alone in this. We all want to help."
