Summary
A considerable time has passed since the crisis in Fontaine when Arlecchino is unexpectedly called for a late-night meeting with Furina, the nation's once most beloved Archon. Intrigued by the request from the woman she had not seen since they last parted ways in such dramatic circumstances, Arlecchino does not expect what awaits her in Furina's apartment. It seems that Fontaine's former star has been hiding a lot from the world.
(Newly mortal Furina discovers she's an omega, and Arlecchino comes across her during her first heat. A rather interesting encounter develops from there.)

With arms around her that are both thin like willow branches but strong, Nangong Jingnu hiccups through another sob. She thinks she should beat this man to death for daring to touch her. But… He isn’t doing anything but stroking her hair. It’s soft and nice, the motions comforting. They remind her of Emperor Father, who would hold her when she was little.
“I want to go home!” she wails.
Agula pulls Nangong Jingnu’s hands away from her face so she can look deep into those onyx eyes. “When the Luo River freezes, I will take you home,” she says.
Nangong Jingnu catches herself on another sob, staring at Agula’s amber eyes. Suddenly, she does not feel she’s looking at a random tribesperson. She sees a steel in his gaze that can only come from one thing: royalty. Sniffling, she grasps onto the cheek she had slapped earlier so that Agula does not look away. “I-”
