Summary
Nero had never meant to go dark like he did, after the Qliphoth, after the cleanup. It was just hard, when it felt like the keystone to his world had come down, and the rest of it too, crumbling slowly after it. It hadn’t been grief; he’d done grief before, sudden death: Credo, pale, broken, his face the colour of slate.
When Dante took that running leap into hell, it wasn’t that, wasn’t like a wound, bleeding freely, and then slow to heal. It had felt like nothing, absence, like a missed step, a not-quite tumble. His hands had shook, but his eyes stayed dry; his dreams were dreamstuff; his days were calm and measured. And then, months later, like a poison brought home from a foreign war, it had taken him apart.
Dante left three years ago, and now he's come back. Nero's keen to make up for lost time, but Dante's returned with his brother and a new set of priorities.

Walking and talking down into the heart of the Qliphoth, V gives a deathbed confession, Nero has a confusing conversation, and Dante needs to stop keeping shit to himself.
