“M-Melly?” Alice called out in disbelief, covering her mouth in shock, “What- what happened to you?”
Melly pursed her….mouth,,, or at least whatever part of her it was that resembled one, “I've told you, haven't I? During one of our earliest correspondences…..some mysteries are best left unsolved. Otherwise the consequences will be dire.”
Alice, still in shock, tried to reach out for Melly's face, but stopped at the last second, catching a whiff of a sickly sweet scent. So pungent it made her gag.
