Phainon chuckled, tightening his hold around Mydei’s waist. He took another drag before offering the cigarette back. “Hey, I’ve got an angle. I’m playing the long game here. When I’m old and wrinkly, shuffling around with a bad back and forgetting where I put my keys, you’ll be in your prime. You’ll be the one pushing my wheelchair and making sure I take my meds.”
“Oh, so that’s the plan? Mutual insurance policy?” Mydei teased. “I take care of you in your golden years, and you keep me in cigarettes and takeout while I’m a broke grad student. We’re each other’s retirement plans. Very romantic. I feel so valued.”

"I suppose we have," he said. Oh, but they were just in the midst of something wonderful. His head was still in a daze, his thoughts as sluggish as the heaviness of his pulse. Mydeimos raised himself to his elbows, yet his posture remained languid. "What if we move ourselves to the pool?"
"And... continue?" Phainon hoped.
The prince's smile was all that needed to be said.

Phainon fidgeted in his place, looking between Hyacine and Mydei in worry. “Is there something wrong with his health? How serious is it?”
“Pretty serious and it’s not ‘wrong’ exactly but,” she looked down at her notes, her brows furrowing in concern. “Lord Mydei,” she raised her head, looking slightly bewildered. “You’re pregnant. You’re telling me you didn’t know?”
Mydei gets hurt, finds out he's pregnant and panics. Phainon is losing his mind in the background. All in that order.
