There’s nothing Tabito is better at than his job.
At first glance, Praes, the southern kingdom ruled by King Ginji and Queen Junko, appears glittering and perfect. Their only child, Crown Prince Hiori, seems destined to be a worthy heir: virtuous, talented, kind, and quietly responsible. But beyond the surface, Praes is secretly rotting with corruption, a decay the king and queen allow to flourish. Suspicious of the truth and hungry for greater power, the northern king hires the most feared assassin in the lands, Tabito Karasu, to eliminate Praes’ rulers, and their young son. Tabito accepts without hesitation. Yet when a chance encounter brings him face-to-face with Prince Hiori, the assassin finds himself questioning the mission for the very first time.

Summary
Every prey in the woodlands lives in fear of him. They are all right to do so. Barou is a menace to them all; a death omen, if you will. You catch sight of him, you’re dead. That’s just how it goes, and it’s just a truth that all of the woodlands had grown to accept. But Isagi… he is something special. Barou doesn’t think there will ever be any other time when he will feel half as ecstatic, as joyful and satisfied, as he will feel when inevitably, he sinks his canines into Isagi’s fragile throat, his claws digging into the brown fur that is so soft to touch against his own, while tasting blood in his mouth.
But Isagi is prey that has not accepted the ultimate truth quite yet.
Barou, a proud lion, the king of the woodlands, has wanted only one thing for a long time: to eat Isagi, a young deer. But Isagi always gets away, no matter how hard Barou tries. It's more likely that Isagi might eat him before Barou can even have a taste.

But when he finally leaves his pack and sets forth to fashion himself a new life, he understands what the leader is trying to say. The most important thing in the world is to survive. If he doesn’t have the hope that there is another day to live, then he has nothing.
Don’t be greedy. Trust Nature. It’s the hope that keeps you alive. Those are the things that he keeps with him when he slips through a narrow opening in an apartment building, where a human lives.

L could feel Light nudge him with his shoulder to get his attention. L gave a start as he found his train of thought interrupted, looking at Light once again. The bus drove over a shallow pothole, causing it to jerk ever so slightly. Light looked at him, his lips pursed together as if he was thinking about something deeply. “Do you have any regrets? About the things you did, living here?”
It was a funny question. It really was. If L had a habit of laughing out loud, he would have laughed without much hesitation. He really didn’t know what was so funny about it. It was the absurdity, maybe. To hear the question coming from Light’s pink lips. Because there was a correct answer and L didn’t have to think for even a minute to figure out what it was.
In a bus stop in front of a church, L has his last meeting with Light. Completely self-indulgent and out of character, in a completely alternate universe with no basis in canon.

Mutual antagonism made both of them push towards being the very best versions of themselves, leading to rates of growth that so far hadn’t shown any signs of slowing down. He was the villain to Isagi’s hero, the darkness to his light. On the pitch, anyway.

Barou Shouei is living his best life during the first match of the FIFA U-20 Cup as the centre forward of the Japanese team, when a devastating injury knocks him out of the game and throws a wrench of uncertainty into his future as a pro. And as if that wasn’t bad enough, Isagi Yoichi — that relentless bastard — absolutely refuses to leave him alone.
Chemical reactions ensue as they get educated about themselves and one another while moving inevitably closer to that which looms ever so large in the horizon; The FIFA World Cup.
