The abyss appeared one early morning, a dark hole cut out of the sea. It extended deep into the water and stretched over the horizon, a long black column straight into hell, an unearthly maw that his people avoided for fear of falling in with no chance of escape.
Hajime now finds himself stuck at the bottom of the sea, and he isn't alone. Something lurks in the darkness, reaching through the gaps in between Hajime’s thoughts. Despite appearances, the god of the abyss is not unkind, and Hajime knows better than to question a god's hospitality.

Summary
Iwaizumi Hajime is on her way home from a graveyard shift at the ER. It’s snowing, the drive long and painfully silent. There is nothing and no-one for miles on end.
Then, amidst the ice and pitch black darkness, she spots blood. She hits the brakes, gets out of her car, and heads straight for the woman staggering through the snow.

Hajime has saved plenty of lives. Many of the work she does goes unappreciated, particularly the special cases that she brings home.
Oikawa Tooru is one such case. One that burrows herself into the gnarled roots of Hajime's house and heart, and refuses to leave.

They weren't a couple, weren't even friends; just allies at best. Hajime didn't care for him beyond that room, and he made a point to be transparent about that.
"Of course," Oikawa said. "I wouldn't expect anything else from you."
Hajime had everything planned. He had a list of names, one he’d been slowly chipping away at over the past five years. He wouldn’t let anything distract him from enacting his vengeance, wouldn’t let anyone come close to him, for his sake and theirs.
Then, along came Oikawa.

Toru knew his place as an admirer turned ally. Regardless of the budding trust between them, he knew none of it would ever result in anything more than what they have now.
Still, that can’t stop him from wanting more.

Hajime’s smile is small—sweet, even—as he asks, “You gonna run your mouth the whole time?”
Tooru huffs out a laugh. “You love it when I do.”
The smile turns a little lopsided, smitten. “Yeah. I do.”
Tooru’s cheeks burn and he noses against the hinge of Hajime’s jaw, peppering kisses with too much force, hoping to find some sort of release for the way Hajime makes him feel.
“What, you embarrassed?” Hajime coos, mean. “I thought you liked it when I complimented you.”
Tooru tears himself away from Hajime to glare. “You’re very mean, Iwa-chan. Very mean!”
With a snicker, Hajime settles farther back, insouciant grin on his face. He raises his eyebrows, as if to ask, What’re you gonna do about it?
Tooru’s resolve coalesces and hardens into a point.

And lately Tooru’s been plagued with thoughts of his handsome, sweet, perfect husband pregnant with his child.
Hajime’s belly, big and round as life grows inside of him. The idea of it makes Tooru feel so fucking antsy, like he can’t rest until it makes it happen.
There’d be no doubt either. Everyone would see Hajime and know that it was Tooru who fucked him pregnant. That Tooru pumped him full of sperm until one of them took, and that their child will be a perfect blend of their features.
He knows it’s not biologically possible. He just doesn’t care.
