Armand sighs, and gestures for Alex to take a few steps to his right. He pushes Daniel to his mark by the shoulders, “Daniel, you must introduce yourself to the fans. Try not to sound your age, we don’t want to lose viewership before we explain the clip.”

“And, I mean,” Daniel continues, bowling over Alex’s feeble attempt to get a word in edgewise. “This video isn’t exactly going to put a halt to the Great Conversion. This is more of a petty-revenge porn kind of thing, yeah?”

“Why, this is journalism, love,” Armand says with flippant finality. “You of all people should recognize, we’re simply breaking a headline. The people need to know.”

    Summary

February 11th, 1990. A reading in Amherst, Massachusetts. Four students attend, three are there for extra credit, one is there for you to use, which you do, aggressively, in your rental car in the garage of your Northampton hotel. I make sure the boy makes it home and forgets the event.

The boy slides into the passenger seat.

Armand knows where they are going. The college has paid Daniel a neat speaking fee, especially neat for such a small crowd and easy pickings, and arranged for him to have a hotel some ten minutes away in Northampton. For the past two days, Daniel has parked on the always empty fourth level of the parking garage, where he can smoke a cigarette undisturbed and more.

Armand is already sitting in the shadows on a curb stop when the pair pulls in. The car reeks of Pall Malls and anxious excited sweat. He can taste the boy's daydreams. The invitation to the room, the large plush bed with too many pillows, something from the minibar, and maybe room service, if he's lucky.

And Armand already knows that Daniel has no such plans.

    Summary

Really, despite the fact that Daniel can tell they’re mostly just there because they needed to be—writing students with an assignment to complete, no doubt—there’s one among them that sticks out a little. He’s tall, cat-like. Despite the fact that he towers over the rest of them, he appears frail in comparison, as if he’s making an active effort to appear as miniscule as possible, and, in his attempt, manages to draw even more attention to himself. He’s dressed a little old fashioned, still clinging onto the 50s look that clawed its way back to the 80s, and though the others keep trying to engage in conversation, he seems more than happy to keep his mouth shut. And he won’t stop looking at Daniel.

(alternatively: it's 1990. Daniel makes a bad decision in Massachusetts.)

"You steal every room. This chapel. My home back when I lived in San Francisco. My current fucking house. I can’t go anywhere without being reminded of you."

After the events of 3x05, Daniel Molloy goes to the Rothko Chapel in Houston to think—and hide from his thoughts. Of course, Armand shows up.
