Roy Mustang's words were laced with a thoughtful hum, and Edward tried not to feel hurt by the misassumption. Many heard his title and assumed it came down to his automail arm and leg. Ed had just hoped the Colonel - after everything - would've been different; that Mustang would've looked past Edward's ill-fitting uniform and cripplingly-heavy automail and only see him as a person.
''But,'' Mustang continued, pensive, ''I think they spelled your title wrong. You're not Fullmetal, you should be Fullmettle. As in, you are full of mettle.''
Edward blinked, utterly baffled.
''Mettle, kid. M-E-T-T-L-E.''
Mustang spelled it out for him. Literally. A genuine smile tugged at the Colonel's lips as he rumbled out a fleeting chuckle, affectionately sweeping a hand over the top of Edward's golden crown. The boy's throat constricted as an annoying warm blur suddenly invaded his vision. He had experienced more kind words and actions under this man's brief command than he had experienced in a long, long time.
It was just a shame that it was only a temporary arrangement.

Kafka is lounging on a commandeered skiff when her phone pings, and she’s forced to take off her glasses and coat to snatch a passing cycrane. It leaves her hair a windblown tangle, a far cry from her artistically messy style.
“Darling.” Kafka hums, inspecting herself with her phone’s camera. “You did that on purpose, didn’t you.”
Wolfie’s response comes in the form of a rather smug-looking sticker, and the sound of a bubble popping through Kafka’s earpiece.
She smiles anyways, flicking her sunglasses back on.
Or: Kafka and Silver Wolf are bad at pretending they don't care.

Summary
A (more detailed than expected) idea of what a potential Batfamily TV show might look like, written in dotpoint and divided into six seasons with episode plots, scenes, and even dialogue. This fic is a mixture of canon adapted for the screen (for major arcs) and plenty of original/almost original ideas of my own. Starts from Dick’s final year as Robin, continues until Damian is well established into the role.
Includes stories such as:
Dick steals the Batmobile and makes Tim an unwitting accomplice; Babs has her first attempt at challenging the internet; Tim goes on a journey from failing gym, to acing it, to deliberately returning to failing; Jason can’t even go to the library without getting caught in a hostage situation; it’s not really Steph’s fault her identity gets worked out in five minutes but maybe if Spoiler fought more criminals than Cluemaster the search would be broader; Tim’s favourite crime show tries to frame Dick for murder; Damian successfully uses the phrase “Drake is not my brother” to be nice to Tim; Jason spends several months trying and failing to convince himself he doesn’t care; and Bruce collects more children than intended, fails to see this as a problem.
