Matt swallows his feelings with the rest of his beer and discards the bottle on the carpeted floor, cracking open another one. Owen gives him a disgusted look.
"You're a pig," he tells Matt, but there's fondness to it, a certain twinkle in his eye.
Matt shrugs. "I'll pick it up later."
"Uh huh. Do I even want to see your motel room?"
"I invited you over, didn't I?" Matt sniffs, acting mock offended. "You don't know I didn't make my room up nice, just for you."

Summary
There are no windows in the Skydome’s cramped detention room so nobody gets the moment that Jay’s nose starts bleeding, dripping heavily into his lap. His hands are still cuffed behind his back. He tries to wipe the blood off on his shoulder and succeeds in smearing it across his lips, over his left cheek. It keeps dripping like a leaky faucet.

Summary
It’s taking longer than Jay thought it would to get back on his feet.
He can’t afford his own place, so he’s still living with Matt. They move through each other’s lives like the other is invisible. Or, at least, that’s true of Jay. Matt keeps doing things for him that Jay would tell him to stop doing if he could see him. Jay wakes up and finds his water bottle full, finds breakfast on the kitchen counter with a fork and knife on a napkin alongside it, finds his bed made and his laundry done. These are, maybe importantly, things that Matt has never done for him before. And still.
