“Don’t need to be waving that around just yet” He spoke to the room, but you heard the reassurance in his tone and nodded slightly, grateful. “What kind of man would I be if I didn’t prep you a little first, right?”

But it was in the way you smiled at people that Satoru saw your beauty. It spread across your face with such ease, such grace, it often took his breath away. Intellect radiated off you, but you remained humble, and he would always catch you writing or studying subtly when the cafeteria was quiet, and he just happened to stroll in to collect something he’d left in there.
You were like an extra shot of espresso alongside his coffee in the mornings, and for the past three years Satoru had, against his will, been falling a little bit in love with you.
Satoru drew his focus back to you just as he heard another agitated string of curses fly from your lips, not directed at him this time as the heavy box of coffee beans you were trying to move from the top shelf still refused to budge. His heart rate picked up ever so slightly in panic when the ladder beneath you lurched violently, and he stood upright when he saw you swaying from side to side seven feet up in the air, trying to regain your balance.
“Despite how much you get on my nerves, I’d really hate to see you break your neck this early in the morning.” Satoru drawled, masking the concern in his voice expertly. “It’d put me off my lunch”
