When he had first realized he would no longer be able to compete in kendo, or any martial arts for that matter, Takashi had thought long and hard about what duty to his family would now look like. There would always be his duty to Mitsukuni, but that barely registered as duty to him. He was devoted to his cousin, he wouldn’t want to live his life apart from his best friend. He could no longer represent the Morinozukas on the national and international martial arts stage, but he was still the eldest son. And in Japanese aristocratic families, the eldest son would one day lead the family and the business. So that is where Takashi’s duty now lay; in family and business. He had sat down with his parents to discuss what the needs of the family were, outside of his role supporting Mitsukuni’s business ventures. His father had reminded him that his familial obligations as the future head of the Morinozukas were by necessity both professional and personal.

Sokka has been away from the Fire Nation capital for a full year. Suki and Zuko have become comfortable together, her steady presence always with him wherever he goes, sparring together, laughing together, taking meals together. And at nighttime, in the safety of their own rooms, fucking themselves raw thinking about each other. They would never do anything, not even acknowledge the unspoken attraction between them - they both respect Sokka too much to do that.
But then Sokka finally visits, and he gets an idea.
