Summary
The balloon string is held tightly in their fist, orange balloon floating above them. Kris steps on the leftover banners and streamers from the festival, the crinkle of the trash alerting the girl a few feet ahead.
Susie turns around, her eyes locking on the balloon, "What, you just wanted to get a balloon first...?"
Walking over to Kris, her demeanor lights up. Susie jokingly pokes at the balloon.
"You dumbass. I'm gonna pop it," she says, her usually sharp grin looking soft in the dark light.
The street in front of the flower shop is quiet, the tone somber. The homes on the street are silent. Kris' hand shakes slightly, imperceptible, and their mouth turns downward.
