Summary
“Ready to go now? Sure you don’t want to fix your makeup or anything before we head out?”
Celina’s smile immediately disappears, “No ma'am. I’m ready.”
“Great,” Lucy puts the car in drive and slowly pulls out of the sally port while Celina shrinks down in her seat. It’s definitely going to be a long day.

Summary
She took a breath, squared herself. “Okay. Stay put. Do not open this door unless I’m the one on the other side. I’ll go… prep them.”
“Prep them?” Tim repeated. “How exactly do you prep someone to meet their younger selves?”
Angela’s smile went crooked. “Carefully.”
She reached for the door panel, paused, and looked back at them. For the first time since they’d appeared in the parking lot, her expression was unguarded. Warm. Fond. A little amazed.
“For what it’s worth,” she said quietly, “you turn out okay. Both of you.” Her gaze flicked between them, lingering just a beat longer than necessary. “Better than okay.”
Lucy’s chest squeezed. “Do we… stay friends?” she asked. It felt ridiculous, but the question tumbled out anyway.
Angela’s eyes softened. “Oh, honey,” she said. “You have no idea.”

Summary
He slips out of his suit jacket, stepping closer and draping it over her shoulders.
Lucy's heart warms along with the rest of her, enveloped in the lingering warmth of Tim’s body heat and the woody scent of his cologne. Everything about the jacket is too long, the sleeves falling past her fingertips and the body grazing the hem of her skirt, but it’s comforting to pull around herself, shielding her from the bite of the wind.
All the same, she can’t help her giggle as she looks up at Tim. “You, Tim Bradford, are a walking cliché.”
