Claire Novak is ten years old when her father sticks his hand in a pot of boiling water. When he leaves, claiming he's possessed by an angel, Claire doesn't quite believe it until she watches him get stabbed in the chest by a man with violent green eyes, and when wings sprout from his back like a raven's. Claire doesn't quite know what's going on, but she hates it. That... thing is wearing her dad, and she wants him back. Making a deal with an eldritch monster in order to stay with him until he lets her dad go, Claire is pulled into something she never thought was possible.

When Cas begins to die right in front of Dean's eyes, Dean does one of the most impulsive things he's ever done (It's a very long list) and decides to dive in after him. What started as a split-second decision leads to something Dean doesn't expect: waking up in a coffin, six feet under, eleven years ago.

Cas is sick and Dean finds a journal that Cas kept about his time alone as a human.
This fic is a retelling of first half of S9 from Cas's POV (via Cas's journal). Lots of Cas angst/loneliness and a correspondingly equal volume of Dean guilt. Sick fic, hurt/comfort, journal fic, and a Christmas fic too.
NO SLASH but the entire thing features a strong Cas/Dean friendship.
