“Thanks. Christ,” he muttered under his breath before resuming his smoke, pulled on it like if he tried hard enough it’d take him somewhere else.
Unfortunately he was still in the cramped room, feeling increasingly small and stuffy with Trevor staring him down from the other end of the shared bed– he now deeply regretted the decision to give in to Trevor’s insistence that a one bedroom would be cheaper, meaning they could spend that much more on coke. Which he was right, and they did, but it hardly felt worth it anymore. He thought about going out to sleep in the car to get away, but remembered they were basically snowed in across the Canadian border, even more northern than North Yankton.

Personally, the high of getting away with shit together was so unlike any other drug he'd known. It didn't matter how petty the crime, it set off every cell in his body. They practically sang, shot throughout him. Reality was altered, and in that moment, they were gods.
