In fact, Ego should’ve been glad they decided on partying and not something more extreme, like bungee jumping in New Zealand or whatever other ideas Shidou had suggested (Reo stopped listening after the first one, having caught the gist of things).

“A text,” Nagi repeated. The word sounded flat in his voice. “I don’t... I don't know how to text this, Reo.”
“Then it can wait,” Reo said, checking his watch needlessly. It was a habit he’d picked up to signal the end of a conversation. “I have a meeting in five minutes. It was good to see you, Nagi. Truly. I’m glad you’re doing well in the Premier League,” he said. The lie slid off his tongue easily—Nagi hadn’t even said a word about how he was doing, but Reo didn’t have time to play his games. Not anymore.
He began to turn, the heavy wool of his designer coat swishing against his legs. He was three steps away when Nagi finally found his voice, though it was barely loud enough to reach him.
“I love you, Reo.”
