"There’s many things in Kevin’s life that have brought him joy, complicated joy but joy nonetheless. Finding out Wymack was his father. Meeting Andrew. Reuniting with Neil. Being a fan of the Trojans, namely Jeremy. Leaving the Ravens and Riko behind. Being a Fox. The day Jean escaped the Ravens and Riko. The day the Ravens stopped being an Exy team.
And there are many things that haven’t brought him joy but the one that hits him in the gut, the one that keeps him up at night, the one that fills him with regret, is leaving the Foxes. At the time it had been the smart choice. He was the best Exy player in the game, everyone knew it, and moving to the Boston Rebels was a good choice for Kevin’s career. He still believes that and the opportunities that have come from it have been unmatched. His game has never been better and he’s the name everyone talks about in the sport. He’s the player everyone wants on his team. He’s making Exy history.
And yet…"

Seth’s fist was faster than his brain. It didn’t occur to him that Kevin was wearing a helmet until he heard the crack of his knuckles hitting plastic. Kevin shook his head like a dog, spit on the court floor, and caught Seth’s eye. Seth felt the intensity of that stare like an electric shock. The game didn’t matter, the roaring crowd didn’t matter, all that mattered was keeping Kevin’s predatory attention on him.
