Summary
While, yes, it's typical for Superman to be saving animals in trouble from time to time, he always had a hard time bonding with cats. Even back on the farm, all the animals loved him — except cats. They would often just ignore and move past him to get to his Pa, and certain ones with an attitude would even hiss and bare their teeth at him.
So when he takes the kitten and places it on the ground, he kinda just… stares for a while.

Summary
Hijikata gets his bearings after a while. He’s standing in sea water, cool aqua and seafoam sloshing through his ankles. The sky above him did not carry the golden and fiery hues of sunrise from Earth. It yielded something softer, shades of carnation and taffy pink stretched across the horizon. Like cotton candy , he thinks in amusement.
Beside him, Gintoki looks on in awe and silence, taking in his surroundings. He looks ethereal in the pinkened setting of a different planetary sun; soft smile and gaze, the sharp angles of his jaw, the fluttering of his silver eyelids. He looks so beautiful and raw that it makes Hijikata thankful for all the gods in existence for bringing this man into his life.
Or,
Hijikata and Gintoki travel far away from Earth and into a surreal planet of endless pink beaches, all the while sorting through a tumultuous amount of pining.

Blinking up at him, wide-eyed, Kagura's hand stayed hovering in the air between them.
“Gin-chan,” she asked, cautious and uncertain in ways that she rarely was, “are you okay?”
