Summary
Astarion is still settling into domestic life in Waterdeep when Gale hauls out the old box of decorations for a holiday he's never heard of, upending all of the elf's careful, exacting work decorating their house. Eventually, Astarion can hold his tongue no longer against the aesthetic insults.
Now, Astarion's left scrambling for some common ground despite how bloody ugly Simril is, or they may never celebrate another holiday under the same roof.

Gale was known to stay up too late reading. Long after Karlach’s snores started to rumble the air, or Lae’zel’s weapons practice wore her down. After Astarion had departed camp to go find his prey for the night.
What was unusual was for him to still be awake by the time Astarion returned to camp. The noise took him by surprise. It was enough to make him put his book down with a frown as he tried to focus in on the noise.
