Summary
V1 never spoke. Or, more accurately, they couldn’t. The machine simply was never fitted with a voice box- a necessary sacrifice made to allow for its processing power to dedicate itself to far more crucial functions.
Functions that were, in the eyes of their human creators, the machine’s only purpose.
To slaughter and destroy with the highest efficiency possible.
Of course- a weapon had no need for a voice.

Bookmarker's Notes
V1 had never really thought about what was under Gabriel’s helmet, but considered it then only to wonder if that would be remotely possible with the real thing. Maybe he only had holy light under there. But V1 had footage of him bleeding when it shot him in the face—did light bleed, if it was an angel’s light? Did he have brains to splatter against a wall?
Only V1 would ever get to know. When it soared across the wooden platforms fighting to keep their heads above the river Styx, it felt light as a bird.

Summary
Optimization is V1’s specialty. From projectile punching to explosion-propelled feats of acceleration, V1 was made to make itself better: faster. To achieve maximum performance, it opts to optimize its energy usage. A more efficient source of biofuel may exist—but V1 needs a means to extract it. A particular peripheral used by Mindflayers seems promising.
V1 intends to test it on Gabriel. There must be something better than blood.
