He turns slowly, head tilting back, the shadow of his ushanka receding to reveal his pale, angular face.
Your heart freezes in your chest at his expression. It is perfectly neutral. His eyes that have glowed at you like coals are dead and flat, the circles beneath them darker than usual.
“Fyodor,” you whisper. “I’m sorry… forgive me…”
“I shouldn’t want to possess you…” he repeats flatly, his bloodless lips curling up at the very corners in a smile that comes nowhere near his eyes. “But oh… oh how I do…”
