the kind of dream scenario that only works in a fanfic. claudia finally getting the love, respect, and support from her fathers that she deserved. lestat opening up about his trauma to his unholy family while he still had the chance. louis being there for both of them but also getting to talk his shit about the affair. ughhh chapter 4 literally made my cry. i love this with my whole heart.

Magnus had leapt into his own hell, laughing. Nikki had danced into his, singing. Claudia had looked into his eyes with defiance. And Lestat – Lestat had fallen into his, a hollow man adrift, burning like a curse he could never lift.
5 times Lestat sees burns as self-punishment. Fire, pain and the compulsion to hurt. One time Louis is there to help.

omg for some reason it hadn't occurred to me that lestat lost so many people he loved to burning. and almost back-to-back! oh my sweet lestat 😭 this is the most beautifully visceral reading experience i've had in a long time. amazing!!!
