"Down the hall, just as he is about to turn into his room, Regulus is stopped in his tracks. He feels his composure slipping, unable to move as he stares at the forgotten door across the hall.
The ornate plaque reads ‘Sirius Orion Black’.
He thought it would have hit him by now that his brother truly was gone. He thought he understood, but as he stares at the abandoned room, Regulus can’t make himself move. He’s stuck standing there, observing the damning evidence that his brother is not coming back. He knew this though, he reminds himself.
So why does it only feel so final now that he’s here?"

Summary
The first time Regulus met the Dark Lord, he was fifteen years old. Sirius had run less than a week before. Looking back, Regulus can only be grateful for that fact. If he had stayed, still been the Black heir, with his unruly hair and a feral edge to his eyes, would the Dark Lord’s obsession have turned upon him instead. The idea makes Regulus shudder. He can’t imagine his stubborn wild brother brought to heel by this monster, but there would have been no other option, not even death was a suitable escape. From the moment Lord Voldemort had laid eyes upon a stiff backed and scared Regulus, he had been doomed.

Remus shook his head and lit up by a lone streetlight, Sirius noticed the way his cheeks and the tips of his ears seemed to darken slightly.
“That’s what I thought.” Sirius crushed the cigarette under the heel of his boot. Then, he stepped up to hook his elbow with Remus’s and started walking them back towards the hotel.
“Besides,” he added, meeting Remus’s gaze with a twinkle in his eyes. “With a smile like that, how could I ever say no?”or
the pretty woman au nobody asked for. sirius is out of options to pay rent, and remus is lonely and rich.

It’s 1979. Sirius Black just wanted to enjoy a cup of coffee and solve a crossword puzzle. Instead he ends up in a cellar, reunited with his little brother, who is apparently wet.
Or
Sometimes all siblings need is to get locked in a room together in order to resolve their issues. In the case of the Black brothers, the room is a Death Eater cellar, the issues are numerous, and the solution involves a considerable amount of violence.
