He itched to follow his son upstairs, make sure he was alright, but he also knew that he couldn’t just yet. Dick had asked for space and even if, in Bruce’s opinion, that might not be what he needed right now, what he did need was Bruce respecting his boundaries, so that was what he would do.
The other very good reason for staying downstairs was the rest of his children gathered in the entryway of the house; looking lost, bruised and exhausted to the bone. Not to mention, absolutely soaked. The thunder and heavy raindrops hitting the rooftop could still be heard from outside.
“Alright, status report.“
Or: Stranded in an old safehouse during a storm, Bruce is dead-set on making sure all of his kids are alright. No one is alone tonight.

Caleb was laying, limp like a doll, on Beau’s back. Molly was reluctantly impressed that she’d seemingly carried him all the way back here. Overshadowing that, however, was the concern for their wizard. Caleb looked like he’d narrowly escaped a house-fire. His face was covered in soot and dried tear tracks ran down his ash-stained cheeks. He was pale as a ghost and even in unconsciousness, he seemed to tremble faintly. Molly couldn’t tell if that was from exhaustion, terror or an overuse of magic, though. Maybe even all three.
Or: After the fight with the Volstrucker, everyone is exhausted. Molly helps in any way they can.

But tonight, he wishes—it’s illogical, it’s ridiculous, this is a New Jersey winter, it was always going to be cold—it were warmer.
Robin’s been fidgeting nonstop for the past several minutes, twitching and refusing to settle the way a stakeout requires, the way he usually can, despite his eight-year-old attention span. He shifts, and twitches, and keeps glancing over. He’s also shaking like a leaf in the wind.
