Arthur clawed at Dutch's vest, but his grip was already weakening, the impending heat sapping his strength. “You need to go,” the blonde gritted out. “They could come… at any time… And I don't need an audience - don’t need you… seein' me like... this.”
Dutch let him push halfheartedly at his chest. “And leave you here?” Dutch's thumb traced the damp hollow beneath Arthur's ear. “If those soldiers catch wind of you like this, it ain't bullets they'll be puttin’ in you.”
Arthur cringed; Dutch watched as shame warred with desperation across his face.
Jesus. That goddamn look. Dutch’s scent spiked - fire, arousal, couldn't hold it back. Alpha musk and a quiet, almost imperceptible growl eked from him.
And the omega heard it, felt it, smelled it, consciously or not. Dutch's wolf could feel Arthur's responding, the hum of it, the glaze in those eyes.
“Look at me, son,” he ordered, throat like gravel. Arthur obeyed.
“Uhn—” Arthur's breath hitched, brow twisted. “Thinkin's... no.”
“Then stop thinking.”
Dutch remembers the one time he'd experienced Heaven.

Arthur learns that disappointment and love can apparently exist at the same time, gets called kind, nearly has a breakdown about it. They end up fucking in the woods instead of dealing with all the problems of the world.
