Zanka's attempting to escape from his dysfunctional family, away from the noise and all, after his father says it's his duty to be a Hell Guard first, and to kill humans secondly as a half-blood. In a last act of defiance, he runs from home to truly see what life's like on the other side. Not without some hiccups on the way, though.

Fresh out of school, it is time for him to get his first real job as a psychologist.He takes on a job at a psychiatric hospital, where he gets assigned a key patient, a particularly difficult patient.
Jabber Wonger is this difficult patient.
Hes been in and out of the institution since very early on in his childhood.Upon meeting, they didn’t think much of eachother.
Zanka saw a challenge, not a person. A patient to help who others had claimed was unable to be helped.
And Jabber saw just another know it all doctor, who’d pretend to understand him and of all that bullshit.
But they couldn’t have been more wrong about eachother.

Zanka was raised in a controlled environment, where self expression and being different just… wasn’t allowed. Once he became a giver and was essentially excommunicated, he started to open up and see the world in a way he hadn’t been able to before. And when a masochistic, venom driven man catches him staring at him as if he wanted to punch his teeth down his throat and approaches him about it, he starts to realize that what he was looking for wasn’t a specific thing. It was a person. And Jabber Wonger was exactly the person he needed.

Zanka woke up early to set out on some mission Enjin had passed onto him, a small trash beast had made it into town and was terrorizing the locals. Easy enough, Zanka set out for his mission. Usually he would complain being woken up so early but it was Enjin who had given him this task and he couldn't disappoint him. He followed the coordinates correctly but he still seemed to be in the wrong place, everything was peaceful and the town was bustling with activity. Walking through he found the spot and old abandoned building no chaos or trash beast in sight

In the Puppet Festival Arc (manga)
Amidst the clamor of the puppet festival, Zanka succumbed to the joyful current and found himself, at least internally, immersed in the festival's dazzling atmosphere. The ambiance around them was exuberant and glamorous to his liking; after all, everyone there deserved a break, especially him.
So why did he now feel numbness in his body, an unwelcome warmth, a pain he didn't want to imagine, drifting into darkness as Goka spoke to him with disgust and gloom before lifting him into his enormous arms—arms he never imagined could hold him as a child, let alone now? As Goka ran with him through the dirt roads amidst the panicking crowd, he was largely unconscious, drifting slowly as the scent of oud his brother carried enveloped him. But he was conscious enough to realize that the oud had been replaced by a pungent chemical odor, a high-pitched, ringing laugh, and utter darkness.

Or: Zanka is being kidnapped, but kidnapping isn't the most appropriate word given the overall context.

He needed to find somewhere to keep her. Somewhere that wasn't HQ, because if Zodyl ever found out Jabber hadn't killed her, chances were he'd do it himself.

Now Jason never found himself parent material. Sure he takes care of any street kids when he can but ultimately, most of his time is spent where he’s being shot at, blown up, or fighting Batman. He doesn’t have time to raise a kid nor mentally stable enough.
So when a baby falls out of a weird looking portal and straight into him. He’s left with a dilemma. Either raise the kid that looks oddly similar like him or leave them to be someone else's problem. Added bonus to his troubles, the baby seems to always end up in danger.
