Maybe it was just this man’s presence, or the exhaustion or the cold, or that numbness starting to wear off like lidocaine after the dentist, leaving unpleasant static in his brain as it came back to life. But he didn’t even think to ask how the stranger knew that Yuta was watching this place for the winter, or what he was doing here in the first place. Hell, he didn’t even think to ask his name.
Instead, all Yuta asks is - “Will you be around?”
“Something like that. Doubt we’ll run into each other though. Oh, also-“ The man was stopping then, turning around to grin at Yuta again. There’s the same twinkle of mirth in his eyes, but this time his smile felt….different. Heavy. “Better be extra careful. There’s a ghost around these parts, though I’m sure the locals have already filled you in. Try not to let em' get you, someone like you is just their type"
Yuta runs from his writer's block the normal way; move halfway across the country to tend to a derelict lighthouse for the winter. The job listing does not mention Mark, the ghost that makes his home there.
