Draco hits the water hard. It feels like crashing into cement. There is no give until he’s sinking and being buried all at once. The wave crashes atop him, and he holds his breath as he’s tossed around in white water. His shoulder bounces against the rocky bottom, cutting into his skin like Doxy nails. He drags across the bottom, tied to his surfboard by a leash around his ankle.
He closes his eyes and lets the cold sink deep into his bones.
He could not fight back. He could just sink. He thought he’d stop contemplating death after this long, but the cold beckons him like a lost son.
And he’s so, so completely and utterly lost.
