First chapter could be a complete fic by itself. First chapter is the summary (multiple raiders visit high shane in the hospital and he has no filter). Then it turns into the daily lives of Ilya and his teammates. WIP 7

The first call comes early, when Ilya is still skating along the edge of a dream. Shane is tucked in warm at his side, and his hair scratches at the underside of Ilya’s jaw, and the tender patch that always tickles just beneath his ear. He can hear the vibration against the wooden bedside table, the soft buzz buzz buzz incessant as a mosquito but he ignores it to go back in the warmth of his sleepy haze.

Later, when the sun is fully up and Shane pulls from his warm and sweaty side, he checks his phone. It’s an unknown number, the region code is for Russia.

    OR

Ilya's niece reaches out to him eight years after he's last seen her. It makes him think about the things he never let himself miss.

I am in hell, Ilya thinks. He's awkwardly hard in his cup and layers of gear. He can't focus. How the fuck is Hollander functioning like this? Is he actually so gifted at hockey that he can play at this level and still have space to let the sex demon in his brain run rampant? Is this what he's like all the time? (Now with bonus ch 2!)

Based on the following prompt: au where ilya wakes up randomly one day and finds out he can read minds, or well, not all minds. just shane hollanders.
pre tampa all stars probably works the best. but it’s ilya finding out that shane thinks about sex All The Time. actually, even worse, he thinks about having sex with ilya All The Time.
ilya doesn’t even notice it until shane’s in boston to play a game and the second they’re close enough shane’s thoughts are in ilyas mind:
‘god, fuck. rozanov looks so good, fuck. i hope he’ll fuck my throat my throat tonight. no, don’t think about that shane. why does it feel so good? is sucking dick too much bad for your dental health. i hope not, though it’s not like i’m sucking dick as much as i wish i was. no shane, you don’t meant that… i wish i was sucking rozanovs cock right now. stop! ugh. imagine if i dropped to my knees right in front of both of our— no, i can’t get hard right now that’s so embarrassing.’
cue ilya being confused, freaked out, horny and also distracted bc apparently having the thoughts of a hockey robot who is also multitasking thinking about how quickly he can get ilyas dick inside him tonight makes for a pretty big impact on ilyas focus. safe to say boston loses

Situationship-era Ilya suddenly gains the ability to read Shane’s mind, which is good for sexy-times but also good for emotional awakenings

PWP. Shane (university hockey player) and Ilya (NHL hockey player) anonymously meet on Omegle and have cyber sex. Entire fic is the Omegle chat. Warning for Ilya jumping pretty quickly to name calling/degradation but Shane apparently loves it. Now I’m imagining them meeting irl after this 😂

    Summary

Five Conversations Yuna has with Ilya, and one conversation she has with Shane. Ch. 6: Back at the cottage.

Yuna had made checklists and organized budgets and shook coaches’ hands and learned how to negotiate and delegate and advocate, all in service of protecting and preserving Shane and this precious, enormous gift. There were a million ways for his journey to go wrong, and only one way for it to go right. She was competent, she was capable, she’d done everything right, everything by the book — and twenty years later, she feels like she didn’t rise to the moments that truly mattered. She mentored the career, at times, she did not mother the boy.

And yet Shane, a marvelous miracle all his own, had figured out those lessons anyways.

Really good. This story is Yuna POV of getting close to Ilya and how he becomes a part of their family. Covers from 2017 (cottage) to 2019 (alternate version where they’re outed 2 years earlier than in book canon). Feels just A TOUCH Mary Sue-ish with the way Yuna sees everything and always knows best and has the best, most thoughtful and thought-out responses to everything as she calmly and carefully guides Ilya and Shane through life and relationships with her superior knowledge and life experience. BUT I love it. This stuff is my jam! Outsider POV of their relationship. Yuna momagering Ilya. Brand deals! Citizenship plans! Cozy Canadian domesticity! Puzzles and the New Yorker and family dinners! Ilya finding a family! Shane getting to be open about his love!

There’s a second WIP fic in the series that is Shane and Ilya POV and slots right in between chapters 5 and 6 of this one. Second fic deals with them being outed and everything that happens after (suspensions, investigations, Russia). Feels realistic. This author knows hockey.

I would read a million more words in this universe.

Quote re Yuna pushing Shane to be the perfect brand ambassador, minority representation, hockey golden boy: “But also, I went along because it was a pain otherwise and it … jumbled me to the point I didn’t always know what I actually thought.” He took a long sip of his beer. “I’m like — very gay, you know.”

    “I’m aware,” she says wryly.

“Right,” he says, blushing. “Anyways. I think I would’ve eventually figured it out without Ilya, but … maybe not? I really don’t know. I think I could have not-thought about myself for long enough that I could be like, married to some girl named Lauren right now.”
