Summary
Louis has always kept a healthy distance from vampires. He is a millennial trying to make money on his art and he doesn't have time for that hole mess. Until his boss assigns him to work with Daniel Molloy to film the upcoming documentary about the life of Lestat de Lioncourt, world famous Vampire and Rock and Roll artist. It was a good gig and important for his career, so he decided it was worth dealing with a vampire for a few months.
Lestat is the personification of decadence and eternal yearning, and everything that annoys Louis about people who refuse to play by the rules like the rest of them has to.
Louis fight his growing attraction toward the vampire over the weeks while Lestat does everything he can to make to get under the human's skin. Eventually they are dragged into vampire politics and old blood feuds that they might not survive unless they are willing to trust each other.

An excuse to write gratuitous smut featuring Lestat's body glitter.

It was cold in the desert after the sun went down. But some nights, Louis woke just early enough to feel the heat of the day still bleeding from the sand under his bare feet. Evening primrose bursting yellow under moonlight in the flower boxes that lined half the perimeter of their trailer. Fang marks ever-healing on the line of his neck, the tender flesh of his inner thighs. They’d been living for months out in the Nevada wilderness all alone, and all they seemed to do was fuck and eat and fight and tend the flowers.
Louis turned his face to the moonlight, shut his eyes, breathed the lingering daylight warmth inside him, let it fill his lungs to near-bursting. He sensed Lestat at his back before they were touching, the thump of his heart the ever-present song of the desert. The sand, the moonlight, the flowers, and him.

Summary
From what Louis had told him, Daniel had pictured Lestat as a Frenchman in his late-thirties, pug-faced, maybe a little balding, and permanently red in the face from the burst capillaries that come with too much drinking and smoking. The truth is a bit of a hard punch to his stomach, an uncomfortable tightness in his throat.
Daniel has worked too hard on his relationship with Louis to let some French asshole take his place.
